Our story

A Franco-British couple
who've lived it.

We're Nathan and Diana — Nathan is British, Diana is French, and we're based in Lille with our three daughters. Between us, we've travelled to more than 70 countries and lived in Spain, France, the UK, the US, Canada and Thailand. We know what it actually feels like to land somewhere new, not speak the language, face a wall of paperwork, and slowly figure it out — because we've done it, repeatedly.

Nathan understands the British expat side: the language gaps, the visa anxiety, the "what even is a récépissé?" moments. Diana handles the French side — she picks up the phone to the préfecture, the CAF and URSSAF in native French, and never takes "non" for an answer.

As a family of five we've also been through school enrolment, crèche applications, vaccination schedules and CAF forms for family benefits — all of it, for real, not from a textbook. SortedInFrance started because we kept watching fellow Brits in Lille drowning in the same admin we had already figured out. It felt wrong not to help.

We're not a big agency with a reception desk and a call centre. We're two people who have genuinely lived this, and we find real satisfaction in making someone's move feel manageable rather than miserable.

Why we started

Brexit broke the easy expat path. Suddenly every Brit needed visas, residency permits and a small mountain of paperwork. We saw mates spending €2,000+ on agencies that wouldn't even publish prices. We knew we could do it better.

What we believe

Admin help should feel like calling a mate, not hiring a lawyer. Prices should be on the page. You should pick what you need from a menu — not get a vague "contact us for a quote".

How we work

Choose Full Service and we handle the lot. Choose Async Support and you drive the process at your own pace, emailing us questions — we reply within 24 hours. Either way, you're talking to real humans, not a call centre.

We're based in Lille

In-person accompaniment to préfectures, banks, schools and appointments is available locally. Everywhere else, we work with expats across France remotely.
